Chronology
Catherine Ravenscroft, a long-time documentary journalist who has built her career on exposing the wrongdoings of institutions, says the following. In several episodes, Jonathan uses the same lens throughout the series, a medium-length telephoto. Such a lens would not be able to focus on intimate subjects in the bedroom with Catherine, taking selfies with Sasha.
At its core, it is a story of revenge
I had no idea what I was going to experience when I started watching the AppleTV+ limited series starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. "Disclaimer" is based on the novel of the same name by Renée Knight and was written for the screen and directed by Alfonso Cuarón. Blanchett plays Catherine, a journalist whose past secrets resurface in a terrifying way, causing her to confront that past, destroying her entire life.
Blanchett, as always, is fantastic here and Kline also gives a strong performance
This is a story that takes the audience (with sometimes vivid details) through the "events" of Catherine’s past. It was a surprise to see Sacha Baron Cohen in a more serious role, but he did it justice. Despite a couple/minor nitpicks, I highly recommend this series if you like character dramas with some added tension/intrigue.
Video review coming soon
Note: There are some pretty graphic depictions of sex/intimacy throughout various episodes. This is not an action-packed one, and by the end I was "hooked" into the story. But boy am I glad I was on that side.
